Super Simple Floral Embroidery Hoop Wreath DIY

An embroidery hoop wreath is a simple and elegant way to decorate your home. Not only is it beautiful, but it’s easy and inexpensive to make. Depending on the florals you choose your wreath can be everyday or seasonal decor. Here’s how you can make a wreath of your own.

You Will Need:

  • Embroidery hoop
  • Faux florals and greenery
  • Hot glue gun
  • Ribbon (optional)

Choose Florals and Greenery For Your Hoop Wreath

You can customize your embroidery hoop wreath to match your home or seasonal decor. Pick faux florals and greenery that you love and that match the colour scheme you are going for. For my wreath I used an assortment of greenery and peach ranunculus flower that I found at Michaels. I love Michaels for faux florals because they have a large selection of good quality picks and stems. Added bonus, they’re usually on sale or you can use coupons. I suggest holding up your greenery and flowers together to get an idea of how they’ll look before you commit.

Plan Your Layout

After you have decided what greenery and florals you are going to use it’s time to choose your layout. Start by laying your embroidery hoop down (you can use the entire embroidery hoop or one ring from it like I did) and taking apart your picks or stems. Then pick pieces of greenery and florals and lay them out on top of the hoop. I usually choose how I want the middle to look and work my way out. This step can take some trial and error, just continue to add and take away pieces until you are happy with how it looks. Planning your embroidery hoop wreath out makes putting it together much easier.

At this point you can also choose to make a bow to add to your wreath. With the subtle colours of my wreath I felt like it needed something at the top to balance it out and add some texture. I have also done these wreathes without bows and they look beautiful, it’s totally personal preference. I made my bow by cutting a length of ribbon that was long enough to make two loops and have some hanging down on each side. Then I cut another smaller piece to wrap around the middle and hot glued it in place. Lastly I played with the loops until they were sitting how I wanted and trimmed the hanging ends.

Assemble Your Hoop Wreath

The easiest way to assemble a hoop wreath is by using a hot glue gun. Take one piece at a time and glue it to the embroidery hoop. Make sure to carefully hold each piece in place until the glue hardens a little so your florals stay where you want them and don’t slide off. After you are done and the glue is dry it’s ready to hang. I hung my wreath by resting the top of the hoop on a nail. You could always add a ribbon or string to the top of your hoop to hang it.
